Some really weird ones here. It’s been a long time since I read this book, but the Livre Poche one with the little blonde girl on the cover seems the best fit–although of course not the most enticing to new readers.

The Peter Owen one is my favourite, though I agree that the Livre de Poche one is the most apt. I saw an excellent one a little while ago on eBay -it shows the opening scene with the girl huddling in a doorway.

I can’t make out which one you mean, Jonathan. The other one that I really like is the one with the hands in the rain.

The Peter Owen one is the first one with the girl asleep on the grass.

BTW if you click on the images then you should also see a short description of the publisher and image source. I originally added captions to these but it made the gallery look a bit ‘messy’ so I decided to leave them captionless.

Oh, thanks, Jonathan. I had clicked on it, but didn’t scroll down and missed the info. I know what you mean about the captions. Sometimes they work and sometimes not.
