‘Paris’ Cover Images

Paris was first published in 1898 and is the third part of Les Trois Villes. The only known English translation is by Ernest Alfred Vizetelly.

I read Paris this summer, in the French and the English. Better cover art might have shown a bicycle outing of the 1890s, since the bicycle plays an important role in the story. Alternatively, a picture of men and women watching the Assembly from the galleries.

I believe Zola liked cycling quite a bit. Did you read Lourdes & Rome before Paris, Nicole? Did you rate the Vizetelly translation favourably?
